Vishal has made a startling revelation sharing details about his reluctance to play a certain role in his career. In a promo video of the upcoming podcast, Yours Frankly Vishal, the actor opened up about his regret of working on a role which altered his health and well-being.

In the short promo, Vishal said "No matter how much money I am offered... I will never fake a squint and perform. It was mental...I did it for Bala sir...if he says jump then I would do that as well...I thought Avan Ivan was my last and final movie because I tried to have squint eyes for it and was in physical pain." For the unversed, Vishal worked on director Bala's 2011 film Avan Ivan where he had to alter the position of his eyes for the role. This caused him severe health issues, so much so that his vision got blurred. In an interview he said "I’m probably the only person in the world who had to go to an eye hospital because I squinted so hard, for days on end, till my vision became blurred,”Vishal On Completing 21 Years In The Film Industry
Recently, Vishal completed 21 years in the film industry. On the occasion, the actor had penned a note of gratitude to his fans for their support, saying their love kept him alive.In a statement, the actor, who is to tie the knot with actress Sai Dhanshika soon, had said, "Heartfelt greetings and gratitude to my beloved fans, my dear friends, and the general public. Today, September 10th, I complete 21 years of my journey as an actor in the film industry. My first film #Chellamay released this day in 2004. I express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks to my parents, my mentor #ActionKing Arjun sir, and Father Rajanayagam of Loyola College.I stepped foot into the film industry with many dreams as an assistant director but your love, your trust, and your applause and appreciation, transformed me from being one among you into an actor who lives to entertain one and all." Stating that he did not see his journey as his own success but as "our success", the actor also thanked his producers, directors, music composers, lyricists, cinematographers, technicians, co-actors and workers who had worked with him in every film.He also thanked theater owners, distributors, and theatre operators and the media for their support."Journalists and all forms of media who have made me a responsible actor/person time and again— my sincere thanks to each and every one of you,But… above all this, the children of GOD, the greatest force I consider as my lifeblood — my audience, my fans.
