Venezuelan opposition leader and pro-democracy activist Maria Corina Machado has been awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, while US President Donald Trump’s long-running quest for the accolade fell short.

Trump has repeatedly boasted that he has ended numerous global conflicts in “record” time, claiming credit for resolving disputes from Armenia-Azerbaijan to DRC and Rwanda, and asserting that he helped stop the India-Pakistan conflict earlier this year in May.Despite his confidence, the US leader downplayed his chances during a press briefing Thursday, saying the committee might “find a reason not to give it to me.” He added, “I have no idea...
