A massive wave of panic is all that is currently taking over Indian H-1B visa holders- all thanks to an unprecedented exclusive order by US President Donald Trump that dropped like a bomb. Trump, on Friday, signed an order raising the H-1B visa petition fee to a whopping USD 100,000. The move was reportedly to ensure that only the ‘most skilled’ foreign individuals take up American jobs in the future- by protecting American jobs. As soon as the news of the same broke out on social media, immigrant employees working or planning to work in the US lost it.Amid the chaos, a video was shared online, which aptly represented the disarray that is spreading among Indians. As per the viral post, the clip was recorded inside an Emirates flight- which was scheduled
to take off from the US’ San Francisco Airport. Reacting to the order, Indian passengers onboard the flight- planning to return home- went into panic, right before the take off. Fearing about the issues they might face while returning, many were seen deboarding the flight before take off. As per the viral video, the flight was delayed by 3 hours. The order came into effect on September 21, Sunday- from 12:01 am EDT. Reportedly, several US firms are asking their H-1B visa holder employees to return to the US before September 21- to avoid visa issues. The H-1B visa is quite popular among Indian techies, where they get to work in the US for three years. The visa can be renewed later.
