Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (September 13) inaugurated Mizoram's first-ever railway line — the Bairabi-Sairang broad-gauge project — marking a historic moment in the state’s connectivity journey. The entire city rejoiced as Mizoram got its first railway network. However, within just 24 hours, a video shot by a vlogger showing the condition of the newly inaugurated Sairang Railway Station went viral. The official RailwaySeva X account also reacted to it.The video was originally shared on X by a user identified as Shubham (@Countinghill1) and later reshared across multiple social media platforms. In the clip, the man shows how people littered the premises, with used plates thrown around carelessly. Expressing disappointment, he said
that just 24 hours after the inauguration, the railway station had already turned into a mess. Even though dustbins were available — which he pointed out in the video — people chose to ignore them. Criticising this behaviour, he remarked that while the government invests in infrastructure, people themselves fail to maintain cleanliness and then complain later. He added, “Meri baat buri lag sakti hai, par agar hum nahi rakhenge saaf apni jagah toh kaun rakhega.”The video highlights that despite the presence of multiple dustbins, garbage was scattered all over the station. Captioning the post, Shubham wrote: “This is the condition of Sairang Railway Station Mizoram after 24 hours of inauguration. @RailMinIndia @RailwaySeva. Please install some cameras at the station and fine these people. Civic sense is on leave in India.”
