IRCTC ‘Regret Status’ Over! Northern Railways Adds 30 Lakh Berths for Diwali, Chhath—Details Inside

As festivals are approaching, the Northern Railways has announced to add an extra 30 lakh berths across its network to accommodate the heavy flow of passengers travelling home to celebrate Diwali and Chhath Puja with their families. The move is aimed at removing the "regret status" shown on the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) app while booking the train tickets.Now, passengers travelling across North India will no longer see the "Coach Regret" status while booking their train tickets.As during the festive season, demands for trains increase, the new initiative will help people travel without being disappointed. regarding the 'regret' status."For now, 3000 additional coaches have been added to trains, and the authorities will add more depending on the need.A railway official said, "Special trains are running during the festivals to various cities in Purvanchal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh. What is a 'regret status'?

A 'regret status'on the IRCTC application means your ticket booking cannot be confirmed because no seats are available. This happens after the waiting list for a train exceeds 150 passengers.Unlike a waiting list, where confirmation is possible if others cancel, a regret status means the train is fully booked and you’ll need to choose another train, class, or date.However, now, passengers can book trains without worrying about the festive season, and the move will significantly reduce waiting lists and enhance passengers' experience.

No-Cancellation Fee IRCTC Ticket Coming Soon

In another big move, the Indian Railways is all set to bring an option for its users to change the travel date on their confirmed tickets without paying any cancellation fee.In case of rescheduling their trips, passengers will be required to pay the difference in price if there is any. The move will make train travel more flexible and affordable, especially when plans change at the last minute.
