It was last year on this day when Ratan Tata passed away. He was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai on October 7, 2024. Reportedly, he was admitted due to age-related issues, along with issues with his blood pressure. However, sadly, the man passed away at the age of 86. His final rites were performed with full state honours at a central Mumbai crematorium on October 10, 2024, in the evening. He was also given a gun salute by the Mumbai Police.

In 2018, the animal lover chose to miss the prestigious British Asian Trust Lifetime Achievement Award at Buckingham Palace, as he decided to stay with his critically ill pet instead. One of his pets, Tango and Tito, was ill at the time, whereas he was supposed to receive the award from then-Prince Charles.
