BTS' RM Raised 1 Billion KRW For Uniformed Officers, But Money Got 'Lost' - Netizens Want To Know Where It Went!

A huge amount of money collected with the help of BTS member RM for the uniformed officers has reportedly gone missing. The money was raised by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, with Kim Namjoon

also contributing a massive amount of 100 million KRW (about $70,000 USD) during his mandatory military services, has been lost in the system.

RM donates 100 million KRW

RM had in September 2024, offered the money, and in follow-up of which the ministry was successful in raising around 1.00 billion KRW (about $700,000 USD) in donations. His aim was to help uniformed workers like soldiers, police officers, and firefighters to acknowledge their services. Infact to laud his efforts the ministry even thanked him with a letter while propagating RM's efforts to encourage more people to pitch in with donations, which eventually grew manifold and number of donors surged to 2,000. However, according to a recent report by JTBC on October 14, the authorities are now unable to track and verify whether the fund was used for the designated purpose. The news has left netizens angry, who claim RM's efforts went in the drain.

Netizens are furious

Many took to X (formerly Twitter) to express disappointment on the part of the authorities. One user wrote, "It’s disappointing to see genuine goodwill get lost in the system. When someone like Namjoon donates with such sincerity, the least the country can do is honor that intention." Another one said, "U are telling me 1 billon donation raised by RM went missing from the system and govt doesn't know where it went? Like what the fck, the least they can do is honor the cause he donated money for."One angry fan reacted, "RM’s out here donating to his country, promoting it through music and art exhibitions — and these *** keep exploiting and mishandling BTS and their money." A second one wrote, "how is this possible? there must be a finance department or even just an accountant responsible for keeping track of these things? especially such a large amount of money???? this is so upsetting."

RM's military service

RM enlisted on December 11, 2023, and served for 18 months. He completed his South Korean military service on June 10, 2025, after serving in the 15th Infantry Division Military Army Band. He exited his base along with fellow BTS member V aka Kim Taehyung.
