Tata Consumer signs MoU with food ministry for ₹2,000 cr investment over 5 years

Tata Consumer Products Ltd on Friday announced that it has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India, committing to an investment of up to ₹2,000 crore over five years.

The proposed investment is part of the Investment Promotion Activity for World Food India 2025.

The company clarified that the investment will depend on the financial evaluation of individual projects and will require relevant corporate and statutory approvals.

It added that the final terms and conditions will be disclosed as and when they are firmed up.

Seperately, Tata Consumer Products said that CARE Ratings has reaffirmed its highest short-term credit rating of CARE A1+ for the company’s commercial papers and short-term loan facilities.

The reaffirmation covers borrowings of up to ₹1,500 crore, according to a regulatory filing dated September 26, 2025.

Shares of Tata Consumer Products were trading at ₹1,118.30 on the NSE at 3:10 pm, down 1.4% amid broad-based selling.

Over the past year, shares of Tata Consumer have fallen 7.48%, moving between ₹882.90 and ₹1,217.00. The company currently commands a market capitalisation of about ₹1.11 trillion.
