What is the story about?
With a fantastic opening weekend, Teja Sajja's pan-Indian fantasy action adventure Mirai is getting closer to the ₹50 crore nett milestone in India. The movie has made significant progress on its third day of release, surpassing Sajja's previous hit Hanu-Man in its first weekend of release.
In all languages combined, Mirai earned nearly ₹16.50 crore on Sunday (Day 3), slightly above its total of roughly ₹15 crore on Saturday (Day 2). The movie grossed approximately ₹13 crore when it released on Friday, resulting in a three-day domestic total of ₹44.50 crore net, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.
The Telugu version earned approximately ₹11.15 crore on day 1 and ₹11.75 crore on day 2. With Friday's earnings of roughly ₹1.65 crore and Saturday's earnings of ₹3 crore, the Hindi-dubbed version continues to gain traction.
Other dubbed versions, such as Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, made small contributions, with collections in thousands and lakhs, not crores.
The Malayalam version made ₹5 lakh and ₹3 lakh on Friday and Saturday, while the Tamil version collected ₹10 lakh and ₹15 lakh. The Kannada version only made ₹5 lakh and ₹7 lakh, respectively.
The Hindi-dubbed version gained significant momentum after Karan Johar's Dharma Productions decided to distribute Mirai in North India.
Johar has previously supported Telugu blockbusters such as Puri Jagannadh's 2022 action thriller Liger as well as flops like S Shankar's 2018 sci-fi action thriller 2.0, and SS Rajamouli's action fantasy Baahubali, according to the Indian Express.
Teja Sajja's previous movie, Hanu-Man, made approximately ₹29.55 crore in its first three days of release. Mirai has already exceeded Hanu-Man's ₹48.45 crore total from its extended opening weekend (including its Thursday release) in its regular Friday–Sunday frame.
