Speaking at Network18's Reform Reloaded summit on Monday, Defence Secretary Singh said that proposals for Medium Altitude Long Endurance Drone contracts will soon be invited by the ministry.
Singh also highlighted that the RFP for Made-in-India drones will soon be released as well, adding that drones, UAVs, focus on satellite imagery, precision ammunition are areas where technology needs to be made available, and that some "off-the-shelf" buying will have to be done where India lacks access to technology.
In the procurement process, an RFP means Request For Proposal, which is a formal document used by an organisation to solicit detailed proposals from potential vendors for a particular project or service.
