The state-owned miner’s output fell 3.9% year-on-year to 48.97 million tonnes (MT) compared with 50.94 MT in the same month last year. Off-take during the month stood at 53.56 MT, down 1.1% from 54.16 MT in September 2024.
Earlier, the Maharatna PSU, reported a 20.1% year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit for the June quarter at ₹8,734 crore, compared to ₹10,934 crore a year ago. Revenue from operations for the first quarter stood at ₹35,842 crore, down 4.4% from ₹37,503 crore last year. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for Q1 came in at ₹12,521 crore , 12.7% lower than ₹14,338 crore in the year-ago period, but comfortably above the forecast of ₹10,850 crore.
The shares of the company ended with minor gains on Wednesday, October 1. The stock has gained nearly a percent in the year so far.
