The video was originally found by Israeli intelligence officials but was kept secret under government censorship until recently.
The family said the video gave them hope and was proof that Bipin was probably still alive. “The sign of life found in Gaza, which we share with you today, is for us an anchor of firm faith that he is alive,” they said.
In the video, Bipin says, “My name is Bipin Joshi, I'm from Nepal. I'm 23 years old. I came to Israel 25 days ago. I came here for the ‘Learn and Earn’ program. I’m a student. I work on an agricultural farm in Cyprus, a citrus and lemon farm.”
At the end of the video, Bipin can be seen looking at something off camera. He doesn't turn his head, but only his eyes move slightly.
This video is one of the few pieces of evidence showing that Bipin was alive when he was taken hostage in 2023. However, there is no information about his current condition or location.

“Marking two years since the horrific massacre that plunged thousands of families into the circle of loss and grief and froze time for our family and other hostages' families, we have chosen to share a sign of life of our beloved son, Bipin,” the Joshi family said in a statement.
Bipin's sister, Pushpa, is currently in the US, raising support for her brother's release and trying to meet President Donald Trump to ask for his help.
She extended her stay in Washington, DC, and New York, saying they have come with hope and want to personally request Donald Trump to help bring Bipin home safely.
“We are here with a hopeful heart, and we want to meet the President, Donald Trump, for advocating for his [Bipin's] safe release,” she said, according to the Jerusalem Post.
“We call on all diplomatic and international actors involved: Do not give up on them. Bring the day. Bring them home,” she added.
Pushpa said her brother was just a student caught in a war he had nothing to do with. She mentioned that the recent videos of two other hostages, Rom and Evyatar, deeply affected her family.
“My parents are devastated, barely holding on. They miss their only son. I miss my best friend - the one who dreams of growing bananas to make banana chips. The creative and funny guy,” she said, according to i24 News.
Hamas kidnapped Bipin from Kibbutz Alumim in Israel, where he was studying farming, along with other Nepali students. When the attack happened, Bipin hid in a safe room. A grenade was thrown inside, but he managed to push it away and save others.
During the attack, he sent a few messages to his cousin in English. In one of them, he wrote, “If something happens to me, you have to take care of my family. Be strong and always look toward the future,” according to The Times of Israel.
