According to early estimates from trade tracker Sacnilk, this brings the film’s cumulative India net to around ₹485.40 crore.
The movie had a great second weekend, grossing ₹78.75 crore over the course of two days, according to Sacnilk. But on the second Monday, its earnings plummeted to ₹13.35 crore, and then to ₹10.5 crore on its second Wednesday. It has further declined on its second Thursday, bringing in only ₹9 crore. The movie has now brought in a total of ₹ 485.40 crore.
On average, Kantara Chapter 1's occupancy rate was 20.15%. Tamil had an occupancy rate of 18.53%, Telugu 13.5%, Hindi 10.14%, and Kannada 20.15%. In Kannada, the morning and afternoon shows generated 9.76% and 17.97% of the total revenue, respectively, while the evening and night shows brought in 24.64% and 28.23%. Given that the movie was averaging about 80% in the initial days following its release, this amount of footfall is quite poor.
The most recent figures further raise hopes that Kantara: Chapter 1 could surpass the ₹500 crore domestic milestone this weekend. According to trade trackers, the 14-day worldwide gross is close to ₹670 crore outside of India, with roughly ₹101 crore coming from international markets.
The prequel to the 2022 movie Kantara has shattered multiple records at the box office. It has won several accolades throughout its 15-day run in theatres, becoming the second-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2025, and one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.
The film's uphill trajectory gets more difficult as Week 3 approaches, but its second-weekend surge had previously reduced sharp midweek falls. Additionally, Thamma, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, is expected to present new competition as theatres prepare for new releases after Diwali.
Taking place in pre-colonial Karnataka, mythological action drama Kantara: Chapter 1 explores the origins of Daiva worship (Bhuta Kola) and how divine powers protect faith and nature from human power and greed. The film was directed by Rishab Shetty and starred Jayaram, Pramod Shetty, Gulshan Devaiah, Rukmini Vasanth, and Rakesh Poojari, alongside Rishab in the lead role.
