The initiative brings Thomas Cook’s Borderless Travel Card (for leisure travellers) and Study Buddy Card (for students) to Blinkit as a dedicated category.
Customers in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru can now order a forex card through the Blinkit app and get it delivered blank at home.
After delivery, Thomas Cook completes the required processes, including Video-KYC and card loading, allowing customers to be “travel ready” within an hour.
How the service works?
- Place an order for the forex card on Blinkit.
- Complete KYC and payment through a secure Thomas Cook link.
- Finish Video-KYC with Thomas Cook’s forex team and get the card loaded for use.
The forex cards can be used across multiple currencies and are accepted widely for international payments, making them useful for both holidaymakers and students.
Other options still exist
While the Blinkit partnership provides speed and convenience, travellers with more time before departure can also obtain forex cards through traditional routes such as banks and forex companies.
Many banks offer same-day or next-day issuance, provided KYC documents and travel details are in order.
Why this matters for travellers?
Buying forex cards has usually required visiting a branch, filling paperwork, and waiting for processing. The Thomas Cook–Blinkit model mirrors the quick commerce trend seen in groceries and essentials, making foreign exchange accessible in the same way.
With India’s quick-commerce market expanding from $300 million in 2022 to $7.1 billion in FY25, the move taps into rising expectations of speed and digital-first convenience.
