Shares of BSE Ltd. recovered from the lows of the day to gain up to 4% on Monday, October 13, after recent developments with regards to weekly options expiry.
Sources told CNBC-TV18 that there will be no change to the weekly options expiry, unless data shows heightened and unusual trading activity.
Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) said that it will be looking at derivative data between July and September of this year, sources told CNBC-TV18 exclusively, adding that the regulator may look at various measures to cool retail participation in the Futures & Options segment before acting on the weekly options expiry.
SEBI may look at steps such as removing disincentives with regards to long-term derivatives, the sources added.

CNBC-TV18 had reported last week, citing sources that the market regulator has received a large number of representations with regards to the weekly options expiry.
On August 21, SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey had made a statement with regards to the tenure of equity derivatives. Speaking at the FICCI Annual Capital Market Conference, Pandey said that there is a need to increase the tenure of equity derivatives, adding that a consultation paper will soon be issued in this regard.
Shares of BSE ended 4.3% higher on Monday at ₹2,486.5, while shares of Angel One also recovered from the lows of the day to end 2.3% higher at ₹2,356.
