What is the story about?
To manage the anticipated surge during the upcoming festive season, particularly Navratri, Diwali, and Chhath, the Central Railway has announced over 1,000 special trains. In a press release dated 12 September, Central Railway stated that it will operate 1,126 special trains during the Puja, Diwali, and Chhath festival seasons in 2025 to accommodate the festive travel rush.
These services began in September and will run until December, connecting major hubs such as Mumbai and Pune with destinations primarily in northern and eastern India. According to Central Railway, 182 additional trains will be operated on top of the 944 special trains already announced. These services are intended to provide relief for passengers travelling during the festival period.
