In August 2025, an IED explosion derailed six coaches of the same train in Mastung district of Balochistan. The incident left a few passengers with minor injuries and halted services temporarily.
In March 2025, militants of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) hijacked the Jaffar Express in Bolan Pass, taking over 400 passengers hostage in a protracted standoff.
