The searing and intense drama is inspired by the real-life and highly controversial Supreme Court judgment in the Mohd. Ahmed Khan vs. Shah Bano Begum case. The film is a fictionalised and dramatised version of the events detailed in the book Bano: Bharat ki Beti, penned by Jigna Vora.
The plot of the film revolves around a husband and wife, which starts as a romantic relationship but quickly escalate into a contentious legal battle. In addition to Gautam and Hashmi, the film features Sheeba Chaddha, Danish Husain, and Aseem Hattangady in key roles. The film is directed by Suparn Varma, known for his work on projects like Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai and Rana Naidu.
This film marks Yami's next big project after her notable performance in Article 370 (2024), where she played the role of NIA agent Zooni Haksar, a sharp and determined intelligence officer working to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. She was also seen in the 2025 romantic action comedy film Dhoom Dhaam, which was released on Netflix.
On the other hand, Emraan will next appear in the film They Call Him OG, alongside Pawan Kalyan. He also had a memorable cameo in Aryan Khan's directorial debut show, The Bad***s of Bollywood.
