OG movie box office collection day 4: Pawan Kalyan’s action drama crosses ₹140 crore mark

Sujeeth’s They Call Him OG is proving to be a big win for both the filmmaker and superstar Pawan Kalyan. After the underwhelming response to Sujeeth’s last outing, Saaho, all eyes were on his latest action crime drama and looking at the numbers, it is safe to say that the film is well and truly off to a mammoth start. On Sunday, the film crossed the ₹ 140 crore mark in the domestic market.

The film added ₹18.50 crore to its kitty on the fourth day of its release, according to Sacnilk.

Interestingly, the numbers are similar to the action drama’s box-office earnings on Saturday and only 5 lakhs more than what it collected on Friday. However, it’s still far behind its opening day collections of a massive ₹ 63.75 crore, before the film saw a 71 % dip in its occupancy.

Not just that, the film made a collection of ₹ 21 crore from paid previews alone, which happened a day before release. Adding all numbers together, it now stands at a solid ₹ 140.20 crore after four days of its release. This makes it

Pawan Kalyan’s highest-grossing film yet, comfortably surpassing Hari Hara Veera Mallu, released in 2024. Notably, it had earned ₹ 87 crore.

Sujeeth on film’s comparisons

Alongside its box office success, OGhas also been making headlines for its comparisons with Adhik Ravichandran’s Good Bad Ugly, starring Ajith Kumar. Addressing the chatter, the filmmaker recently clarified that OG was conceived long before Adhik even began writing his film.

In a chat with Idlebrain, he said, “I released the teaser ofOG before he even put pen to paper for Good Bad Ugly. I know him very well. Adhik genuinely loves me; he sent me a long message when I made Saaho. He texted me that he’s genuinely the biggest fan of my work.” Sujeeth added, “I know he didn’t even start writing the story then.”

The plot of They Call Him OG

The film, set in 1990s Mumbai, follows OG, a once-feared gangster who unwillingly returns from exile to settle scores in a city torn apart by crime and betrayal. Emraan Hashmi plays the antagonist in the film, whereas Sriya Reddy joins the cast for added intrigue.
