What is the story about?
It has been years since Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson last shared the stage as part of their boy band One Direction, but the former bandmates are reuniting, this time on screen.
Netflix has announced a three-part documentary series following the duo on a road trip across America, a journey described as spontaneous, heartfelt, and filled with "reconnection, exploration and a lot of laughter."
For fans, the project promises a glimpse into the personal worlds of two of One Direction’s most private members. Over the course of three episodes, Malik and Tomlinson open up in intimate conversations about life, love, loss, and fatherhood, made all the more poignant in the wake of fellow bandmate Liam Payne’s
death in October 2024 in Argentina at the age of 31.
The series is being helmed by Nicola Marsh, whose credits include Song Exploder and Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story, with production by Campfire Studios, known for unscripted hits such as Unknown Number: The High School Catfish and Smartless: On the Road.
Both Malik and Tomlinson enter this chapter with thriving solo careers. Malik, who earlier this year wrapped a globe-spanning run of his Stairway to the Sky tour and released his fourth album Room Under the Stairs, is set to begin a Las Vegas residency in January 2026. Tomlinson, meanwhile, has his third studio album How Did I Get Here? due out January 23, followed by a world arena tour next summer.
