What is the story about?
Filmmaker Karan Johar has moved the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights. The director's plea seeks to restrain people from illegally selling merchandise in his name, news agency PTI reported.
The petition comes months after the industry veteran won another case in the Bombay High Court. The case involved the usage of his name in the title of a film. On May 7, the Bombay HC ruled that the ban on the film Shaadi Ke Director Karan Aur Johar was justified, for it wrongly used the director's name.
This could harm his reputation and take unfair advantage of his fame, the court added.

The decision backed a March 7, 2025, order, halting the film’s release, according to News18. The ruling came after Johar moved the court, saying he had nothing to do with the film and never gave the makers permission to use his name.
