Legendary alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins has cancelled their much-anticipated India debut shows due to unforeseen logistical challenges and circumstances beyond their control. The Bengaluru and Mumbai concerts, scheduled for October 11 and 12, 2025, were part of the band’s Rock Invasion 2025 Asia Tour.
In a statement on Facebook, the band said, “Due to unexpected logistical challenges and conditions out of our control, we have to cancel our two upcoming shows in Bangalore and Mumbai.
We cannot perform these shows up to the standards that we and our fans expect.”
The India leg would have featured founding members Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin, alongside live tour members Jack Bates on bass, Kiki Wong on guitar, and multi-instrumentalist Katie Cole, performing a setlist spanning more than three decades.
The Smashing Pumpkins’ Legacy
The band, formed in Chicago in the late 1980s, rose to global fame in the 1990s with hits like 1979, Tonight, Tonight, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, and Today. Known for their blend of grunge, shoegaze, and alternative rock, they continue to influence artists worldwide, with recent releases including Sighommi and Beguiled.
