Production house Silver Cast Creations announced it on the occasion of PM Modi's 75th birthday on Wednesday.
“A man’s story that rises beyond battles… to become a revolution for the ages. #MaaVande it is. Wishing the Honourable Prime Minister @Narendramodi Ji a very Happy Birthday. May glory be revived and brighter things await,” read the caption of the post on X.
The film, with the tagline ‘The Anthem of a Mother’, will be released in multiple languages, including English, in 2026.
Unni Mukundan took to his Instagram to share a post mentioning that he knew of PM Modi as “my Chief Minister” during his childhood, as he grew up in Ahmedabad. “I’m humbled to share that I will be portraying the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Damodardas Modi ji, in the upcoming film Maa Vande, directed by @kranthikumarch and produced by @maavandemovie,” he wrote.
Kranthi Kumar CH will write and direct Maa Vande , while Veer Reddy M is producing it under the Silver Cast Creations banner. The cinematography will be handled by KK Senthil Kumar, who has previously worked on SS Rajamouli's blockbusters
Ravi Basrur will compose the music, with Sreekar Prasad handling the editing. Sabu Cyril and King Solomon will manage production design and action choreography, respectively.
The makers stated that the upcoming film will follow PM Modi's journey from childhood to becoming the leader of the nation, with particular emphasis on his relationship with his late mother, Heeraben Modi, reported Variety.
Maa Vande is not the first biopic on Modi. In 2019, Omung Kumar directed the film PM Narendra Modi, featuring Vivek Oberoi in the lead role.
Unni Mukundan is known for his roles in films such as Marco Bro and Daddy. He was recently seen in the Malayalam films Mehfil, directed by Jayaraj and Get Set Baby, directed by Vinay Govind. Before that, he played the violent titular character in the 2024 action film Marco.
