The film's excellent word-of-mouth popularity and great occupancy numbers in key language markets are highlighted by its rise in collection on day 4. Kantara's cross-lingual resonance can be seen by the reportedly enormous foot traffic it received on Sunday alone in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi, according to Sacnilk.
The Kannada version's overall occupancy rate in Karnataka was 90.59%, with night shows continuing to perform well and afternoon and evening shows almost completely booked. With an average occupancy rate of 80.90% on day 4, the Tamil version likewise showed strong attendance.
Telugu theatres recorded an average occupancy rate of about 71.37%. Even the Hindi version, which is more recent in many non-southern regions, had an overall Sunday screening occupancy rate of 38.90%.
Making ₹61.85 crore on its first day of release, the Rishab Shetty film got off to a great start at the box office. It collected ₹45.4 crore on Friday, a 26% decline. However, this decline was short-lived as the movie picked up steam on Saturday, grossing ₹55 crore, and increased by more than 11% on Sunday, totalling ₹61 crore.
The Hindi version of the movie brought in ₹23.5 crore of the total net collection made on Sunday, which was even more than the Kannada version's contribution of ₹15.5 crore. While the Tamil and Malayalam versions contributed ₹6.5 crore and ₹4.75 crore, respectively, the Telugu version generated ₹11.25 crore.
This achievement reportedly puts Kantara: Chapter 1 in an exclusive group among pan-Indian hits, making it a serious candidate to surpass the ₹300 crore global box office mark by the end of its first weekend.
Kantara: Chapter 1is expected to shortly surpass Mahavatar Narsimha , which made ₹325.74 crore worldwide, to become the second-highest-grossing Kannada film of 2025 and the fourth-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time.
The movie has already outperformed Pawan Kalyan's They Call Him OG, which made ₹183 crore in India in only 11 days after its premiere. Similarly, Shetty's film surpassed Sitaare Zameen Par, starring Aamir Khan, with a net collection of ₹167.3 crore in India.
Kantara: Chapter 1 also outperformed the Malayalam blockbuster Lokah: Chapter 1, which brought in ₹153.05 crore in India, and even outperformed KGF: Chapter 1 with ₹185.24 crore in India.
