With that, the total domestic collection of the film now stands at ₹ 255.75 crore in just five days. Despite a slight dip from its blockbuster Sunday earnings of ₹ 63 crore, Kantara Chapter 1 continues to dominate theatres nationwide.
The film’s strong performance has also outperformed several big Bollywood releases this year. Its first Monday numbers are higher than the opening day collection of Salman Khan’s Sikandar, which earned ₹ 26 crore on release day.

Mounted on a budget of ₹ 125 crore, Kantara Chapter 1has already more than doubled its cost in less than a week. The film now stands as the highest-grossing Kannada film of the year, even surpassing Su From So, which had previously held the record with ₹ 92 crore.
The monstrous success of the film can be credited to Rishab Shetty’s exceptional work in the previous film and the impression that it left on the audience’s hearts.
Released in 2022, Kantara was directed by Rishab Shetty, who also played the lead role in the original film. For his performance, Rishab won the Best Actor National Award in 2024. That’s not all. The mythological epic also won the National Award in the category of Best Popular Film.
Now, coming back to Kantara: Chapter 1, the prequel to the 2022 film has been released in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Along with Rishab Shetty in the lead, the film also features Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram and Gulshan Devaiah in the key roles.
Looking at the numbers, Kantara Chapter 1 shows no signs of slowing down, and if the current trend continues, the film might soon cross the ₹ 300-crore mark domestically.
