What is the story about?
Rishab Shetty's mythological action epic Kantara: Chapter 1 had yet another spectacular day at the box office, surpassing the ₹350 crore milestone in India and solidifying its place as one of the biggest hits of 2025.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie earned an estimated ₹22 crore net on day 9, slightly more than the ₹21.15 crore it made the day before. This brings the total domestic net total to approximately ₹359.40 crore by the end of the ninth day.
Strong weekend traffic and consistent occupancy across multiple language variants were major contributors to the Day 9 collections rebound.
On day 9, the Kannada version's average occupancy in Karnataka was 42.58%, with a sharp increase from morning (14.87%) to night (67.77%).
Bengaluru was in first place with 40.50% occupancy over 972 shows. Strong turnouts were also reported in Shivamogga (77.75%) and Mysuru (61.50%). Despite having fewer screens, Kundapura's occupancy reached a peak of 84.25%.
The dubbed versions of the movie also gained a lot of popularity. Hyderabad had the highest occupancy rate at 27.75%, while the Telugu release averaged 24.99%.
The Malayalam version peaked at 53.23% in night shows, while the Tamil version, which was dominated by Chennai, recorded up to 30.36% occupancy.
Hindi marketplaces had a total occupancy rate of 15.65%. Delhi NCR recorded 835 shows with 13% occupancy, while Mumbai had 755 shows.
The makers ofKantara: Chapter 1tweeted that the film's worldwide gross surpassed ₹509.25 crore in its first week alone, marking the film's entry into the ₹500 crore club.

The Kannada film’s $53 million haul exceeded the earnings of One Battle After Another (just over $40 million) and Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl ($50 million).
