IndiGo's domestic market fell to 64.2% against 65.2% in July, Air India Group, comprising Air India and Air India Express saw its market share rise to 27.3% from 26.2% as Akasa Air’s share declined slightly to 5.4%, and SpiceJet's remained steady at 2%.
The overall number is an improvement over July’s figures, when 1.26 crore passengers travelled across the country.

“Passengers carried by domestic airlines during January‑August 2025 were 1,107.26 lakhs as against 1,054.66 lakhs during the corresponding period of the previous year, thereby registering an annual growth of 4.99% and a monthly growth of –1.40%," the DGCA said in its monthly traffic report for August.
August saw a total of 1,407 passenger-related complaints lodged with scheduled domestic airlines, amounting to approximately 1.09 complaints per 10,000 passengers. The DGCA noted that 74,381 travellers were affected by flight delays, and airlines paid out around Rs 1.18 crore in facilitation costs. Cancellations impacted 36,362 passengers, with carriers spending Rs 64.51 lakh on compensations and services. Additionally, 705 passengers were denied boarding, and reimbursements totalling Rs 24.52 lakh were issued.
