Released on September 12, the Karthik Gattamneni fantasy action movie had a strong opening weekend, owing to significant contributions from Telugu and Hindi versions.
Mirai generated about ₹3.35 crore all-languages net on its seventh day (Thursday, September 18), based on trade tracker and preliminary estimations put together by Sacnilk. This raises the movie's opening week domestic net receipts to ₹65.10 crore.
The first few days exhibited strong performance. On day 1, the movie earned nearly ₹13 crore, with ₹1.65 crore from the Hindi version and ₹11.15 crore from the Telugu version. Significant amounts were added over the first weekend: ₹16.6 crore on Sunday and ₹15 crore on Saturday.
However, the typical midweek dip began on Monday, day 4, when it was approximately ₹6.40 crore; on Tuesday, it was approximately ₹6 crore; on Wednesday, it was approximately ₹4.75 crore; and on day 7, it dropped even more to ₹3.35 crore.
Despite the decline, Mirai has a good chance of being a success in its genre after surpassing the ₹65 crore mark, notably given its fantasy-action focus.
This slow pace is also reflected in occupancy rates. Overall Telugu-language theatre occupancy in Mirai was approximately 18.72% on day 7, with night shows reaching a peak of roughly 22.42%. In contrast, the Hindi version had far lower engagement, with night shows at about 11.66% and overall occupancy of about 8.81%.
Regarded as one of the year's most popular mythological fantasy films, Mirai chronicles a celestial mission with roots in the Treta Yuga. Teja Sajja plays a "Super Yodha" in the movie, guarding nine granthas, while Manoj Manchu plays the antagonist Mahabir, also known as Black Sword. Shriya Saran, Ritika Nayak, Jagapathi Babu, Jayaram, Rajendranath Zutshi, Pawan Chopra, and Tanja Keller are among the ensemble cast members of the fantasy drama.
Mirai, which is distributed in Hindi by Dharma Productions, is available in eight different languages in 2D and 3D, which adds to its appeal as a pan-India show.
