Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of Northern Railway, explained the rationale behind the decision. "The decision has been taken to prevent overcrowding at stations, keeping in mind the increase in passengers,” he said.

"However, persons accompanying senior citizens, Divyangjans, female passengers may approach enquiry office for a platform ticket,” he shared.
Meanwhile, the Eastern Railway has Reviewed safety measures and unveiled disaster management plan after conducted a safety review on October 15. The review was held at the ER headquarters and focused on enhancing operational safety, accident prevention, and emergency preparedness.
The meeting was led by Hari Shankar Verma, Director General (Safety), Railway Board, along with Milind Deouskar, General Manager of Eastern Railway. “As a major step towards strengthening emergency response capabilities, Verma unveiled the disaster management plan for Eastern Railway, aimed at ensuring prompt, coordinated and efficient action during any unforeseen situation,” an official said.

Verma conducted detailed inspections at key operational points across the zone and held direct interactions with train crew and frontline railway staff.
