Hollywood actor Tom Holland suffered a minor head injury while shooting a stunt for the upcoming 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', leading to a temporary halt of production.
According to The Guardian, Holland was performing an action scene at Leavesden Studios in the UK on Friday when he suffered a concussion and was rushed to the hospital.
The filming has been put on hold for a few days to give Holland time to recuperate. No other members of the cast or crew suffered injuries, yet the specifics of the injury's cause have not been made public.
The movie's co-producers, Sony and Marvel Studios, will get together early this week to discuss the next stages in scheduling and safety procedures for the production.
Following the release of 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' in 2017, 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' in 2019, and 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' in 2021, Holland will play Spidey for the fourth time in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', which is scheduled for release in July 2026.
With Destin Daniel Cretton directing, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the first Spider-Man film in the franchise not directed by Jon Watts. Sadie Sink, Tramell Tillman, and Liza Colon-Zayas are new cast members; Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon return as the title character.
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner - the Hulk, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, and Michael Mando as the Scorpion are also making a comeback.
Despite the injury, Holland appeared in public on Saturday when he accompanied Zendaya and his father, Dominic, to a charity event for The Brothers Trust in London. However, he reportedly left early and did not appear good.
The creators recently revealed a redesigned Spider-Man outfit, including a bright red-and-blue cover with elevated black webbing that is visible.
Holland later revealed his Spider-Man suit to his fans. In the teaser video, he appears to be on the film's sets, wearing a more vintage Spider-Man outfit that was reminiscent of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's.
“Are you ready? - 7.31.2026,” the caption read.
'Brand New Day' is scheduled for release in theatres on July 31, 2026, having started filming in Glasgow in early August. The production status is anticipated to be made clear after the next meeting between Sony and Marvel Studios.
