PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers are headed to overtime 0-0 in Wednesday night's Game 6 of their first-round series.
The Flyers lead the series 3-2.
The Penguins would
host Game 7 on Saturday night with a win while a Flyers’ victory would send them into a second-round series against Carolina.
The Penguins took 32 shots on goal against Dan Vladar in regulation.
The last playoff game to head to overtime scoreless was Winnipeg and Edmonton in a 2021 first-round series. The Jets won 1-0 in the first OT.
Sidney Crosby and the Penguins are aiming to become just the fifth team in NHL history to win a series after trailing 3-0. They’ve won two straight games to force Game 6.
The Flyers are among the four teams that have rallied to win a series after losing the first three games. They did it against Boston in the second round in 2010. Philadelphia ended up reaching the Stanley Cup Final that season, losing to Chicago.
The Flyers are in the playoffs for the first time since 2020, when they last reached the second round in the bubble season. They are playing their first series at home since 2018.
