A clip of an overcrowded Indian Railways passenger train has gone viral, capturing a chaotic scene where people scramble to board by blocking every doorway
and ignoring safety rules. Even children can be seen clinging to the entrances in a desperate rush to get inside. The video, posted on Reddit under the title “Just look at them”, shows people forcing their way onto the train while obstructing the doors, leaving others waiting by the tracks until they could push through. Those in front rushed in frantically to secure space. It was further written on the post, ''The train stood there for 10 good minutes Can't they get in one by one.'' The train in question was running from Jodhpur to Rewari. In the background, an announcement over the public address (PA) system can be heard, where a railway official urges travellers to board safely and follow the guidelines. However, the appeals were ignored as passengers continued clambering in recklessly. The viral footage sparked mixed reactions online. Many users criticised the absence of civic sense, while some empathised with the struggle of travellers trying to secure a seat.
One comment read: “This clearly shows the kind of civic sense we lack." The same user added, “But lets just for a minute think in their perspective, Why are they doing like this? Maybe due to First Come First Serve Seat Reservation, as its a general class boogie, so it matters to them to get in there as soon as they can to fetch a seat so that they travel the long distance journey without standing."
Another person remarked, “In our country, people often misunderstand ‘first come, first serve’ as ‘first to push, first to gain’ — whether it’s railway seats, movie tickets, or temple darshan." Meanwhile, someone else said the chaotic scenes reminded them of Mumbai’s local trains.
