Two weeks after calling off their Jantar Mantar protest, the CJP has once again threatened to hit the streets, if the promised quashing of FIRs against
the students protesters is not honoured. Spokesperson Saurav Das called out the Union Government in his press briefing, alleging that the process was being "deliberately delayed." The CJP has declared that the students and the party would be resuming their protests on the streets if their demands weren't honoured. He said, that the students will not accept any delays in the process. In a threat, he said, "if the students hit the streets again, the consequences would be damaging for the BJP." The CJP have basically alleged that the government has backtracked on its commitments of junking all FIRs filed against the protesters during the July 20 Parliament march. Das cited the important proceedings in the Supreme Court, where a request for the use of Article 142 was made, to quash all said FIRs. He added, that the government had not objected to the request. He argues that if the government does not have any objection, the quashing of FIRs should be easily facilitated. He also referred to the July 25 delegation meeting held between the CJP and the Union government, where an assurance was made that all of CJP's demands, including the FIRs' issue would be met. He has now alleged that those commitments have not been honoured. He also claims that the government has not committed to providing a list of FIRs in front of the Supreme Court, that can be quashed. He alleges that this was a "deliberate attempt to delay the process." He said that if the government does not provide the list of FIRs to be quashed, the protesters' working panel would hold a meeting, to decide the next course of action. He also asked, "what happened to the compensation promised to the injured students?"
