Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin of Tamil Nadu criticized the Central Government on February 6, alleging that it is attempting to undermine the state's
financial and educational rights. He expressed his concerns during a party event in Thanjavur, where he highlighted the lack of support for Tamil Nadu in the recent Union Budget. Stalin pointed out that the budget presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman failed to mention Tamil Nadu or include any projects for the state. He emphasized the achievements of the DMK government, including welfare schemes aimed at supporting women and schoolchildren.
Critique of the Union Budget
During the event, Udhayanidhi Stalin remarked, "There was not even one single project for the state and even the word 'Tamil Nadu' was not mentioned in the budget speech." He contrasted this with the initiatives launched by the DMK government, such as the free bus travel scheme for women and the morning meal program for school children.
Highlighting State Achievements
Stalin underscored the success of the Kalaignar Urimai Thittam, which provides Rs 1,000 monthly to 1.3 crore women in Tamil Nadu. He stated, "Tamil Nadu leads India with a 13.19 percent growth rate," showcasing the state's economic progress amidst the alleged neglect by the central authorities.
Allegations Against the Central Government
The Deputy Chief Minister accused the ruling NDA government of attempting to stifle Tamil Nadu's growth by infringing on its financial and educational rights. He claimed that the BJP government is also attempting to impose Hindi and Sanskrit on the state. He said, "The Centre has been deceiving Tamil Nadu," criticizing Sitharaman for her failure to advocate for the state's interests.
Political Aspirations and Party Unity
Udhayanidhi expressed confidence in his party's prospects for the upcoming assembly elections, stating, "It is sure our leader (Stalin) will become the chief minister again and Thanjavur will be the starting point for this victory." He urged party cadres to intensify their efforts to secure electoral success.
