Islamabad: A senior operative of terror organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was reportedly died under mysterious circumstances on Saturday (August 8). The
deceased LeT commander has been identified as Qari Saeed Abdul Aziz. According to reports, Aziz suddenly collapsed at the gate of the Quba Mosque in Islamabad. Local reports claimed that the LeT operative had eaten food at a restaurant before arriving at the mosque for prayers. The immediate reason for his death was not known. Aziz was reportedly involved in the planning of the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks. Aziz was a high-ranking LeT operative. He reportedly had played a key role in the planning of the 36/11 Mumbai and other terrorist attacks. In the LeT, Aziz reportedly headed a specialised unit that maintained communication channels and provided financial assistance to the families of terrorists killed in encounters with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. Notably, in the last few months, several high-ranking terrorists were killed in Pakistan by unknown men. Earlier this month, an LeT operative had said that 30-40 of its terrorists had been gunned down by "unknown gunmen". Rizwan Hanif, who is associated with LeT, can be seen surrounded by heavily armed bodyguards while addressing LeT cadres, saying, "What was his fault? He was gunned down by Indian agencies. He is not the first one. In the past three or four years, 30 to 40 of our men have been gunned down by Indian agencies in Rawalakot, Karachi, and Peshawar." Last month, the brother of a Pakistani gangster and the chief of the defunct People’s Amn Committee, Uzair Baloch, was reportedly shot in Pakistan's Karachi. According to a Pakistani newspaper, Dawn, Zubair was shot in his chest and abdomen by unknown assailants. He was immediately rushed to Karachi's Civil Hospital. The people were also injured in the firing. As per the report, one of the bystanders injured in the incident is also in critical condition. The attack took place on Mirza Adam Khan Road in Lyari's Chakiwara locality, where motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire on Zubair.
