United States President Donald Trump has said that he may try to attend the upcoming wedding of his son, Donald Trump Jr., though he admitted that current
global tensions could make it difficult. The ceremony is scheduled to take place this weekend on a private island in the Bahamas. Trump Jr., also known as Don Jr, will marry socialite Bettina Anderson in what is expected to be an intimate gathering of close family and friends, according to the President. Speaking from the Oval Office, Donald Trump said, "He'd like me to go. It's going to be just a small little private affair and I'm going to try and make it. This is not good timing for me. I have a thing called Iran and other things". He also made a light remark about how his presence or absence would be viewed in the media as tensions in the Middle East continue. "That's one I can't win on. If I do attend, I get killed. If I don't attend, I get killed -- by the fake news, of course. Hopefully they're going to have a great marriage," he said. Reports, including from CNN, suggest that the couple had hoped to keep the wedding low-profile, with plans for a private celebration away from media attention. Concerns over security and the burden of a heavily guarded event, particularly if the US President attends—are also said to have influenced the decision. This will mark the second marriage for Trump Jr, 48, who was previously married to Vanessa Trump for 12 years before their divorce in 2018. The couple share five children. Vanessa Trump recently revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Donald Trump Jr currently serves as executive vice president of The Trump Organisation and remains a prominent supporter of his father’s MAGA political movement. He has also previously suggested he may consider a future presidential run, though no formal plans have been announced.
