‘Government lapse’ is often the first thing that most people comment on when it comes to a country’s public commute getting halted, delayed, disrupted,
discontinued and so on. However, after watching this latest video going viral, it seems like the internet is shifting the blame to citizens as well– and for the correct reasons. A rather questionable incident recently came to light, which highlighted how ‘lack of civic sense’ is taking the country’s progress backwards. A video was shared online, which showed a group of men- quite proudly- making a Vande Bharat train stop mid-way, by keeping massive wooden logs and cement columns on train tracks, to block the way. The video went viral in an instant, leaving netizens fuming. In the clip, the men look amused and even proud of how they were able to halt a public service. On January 17, India launched its first Vande Bharat sleeper train; on the Kolkata-Guwahati route. The train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, enabling a better overnight semi-high-speed travel between eastern India and the Northeast. All in all, it was the government's latest attempt to make India better connected; however, with incidents such as those mentioned above, it has become quite clear that the nation can hardly move forward if its citizens fail to act civilly. The internet, too, responded along the same lines, pointing out how the incident displayed the absence of ‘basic civic sense’ and even ‘common sense’. Many also commented on how the instance could have caused a major accident. Coming back to the viral video, Times Now could not confirm the details. Check out the viral post: “If you think the train accident happened only due to government or system failure, then you’re wrong. Watch this,” the post read. The post was shared on Instagram by the handle ‘RAMDUT SENA’. The post was shared yesterday and pulled more than 749K views from people.
Internet reactions:
“Give loaded arms to the motorman and guard,” a user said. “Inki sevice achi honi chahiye. Kam se kam 1 mahina Roj (They should be punished for at least a month),” commented a second person.

“This is visible. What other disasters are they fueling," commented the next person. “@amitshahofficial @railminindia what are security forces doing for them?” asked the next person in the comment section.
“We really do need to stop blaming the government entirely. There is so much more to this. The government surely should be blamed for not making strict enough rules and punishment, but the citizens too deserve equal amounts of schooling," added another.
