RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's GenZ outreach has drawn sharp responses from Opposition leaders, questioning why his remarks were not directing the government.
Congress MP KC Venugopal questioned Bhagwat's statements, saying that if the RSS did care about the interests of the GenZ, they should ask for the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah or at least urge him to come to Parliament and respond. Venugopal alleged that the government is run by the RSS and that the excessive force used on the students must be condemned by the Sangh. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also hit out at the RSS Chief, stating that the GenZ did not "require RSS' certificate." Echoing Venugopal's remarks, she also demanded an explanation and an apology from the Home Minister over the July 20 police crackdown.
Congress MPs Amar Singh and Rajeev Shukla also questioned the RSS and Mohan Bhagwat. Singh hit out, saying that the RSS was free to express their views but must direct them towards the government for development and growth. Shukla on the other hand, alleged that the government was not listening to Bhagwat's views, referring to the Sangh chief's comments calling the labelling of GenZ protesters anti-nationals' wrong.
Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge, who has been actively vocal against the RSS, slammed Bhagwat's remarks. He questioned Bhagwat's position on the GenZ, saying that while his language may have changed, his ideology had not.
