Kolkata: An IndiGo aircraft on its way from Nagpur to Kolkata had to return shortly after take-off on Tuesday following a suspected bird strike. The flight
landed safely back at Nagpur airport, officials confirmed. The incident involved IndiGo flight 6E 812, which was scheduled to operate on 2 September. Soon after departure, the pilots suspected a bird strike and decided to turn back as a precautionary measure. The airline said the aircraft landed without any issues, but due to inspection and maintenance requirements, the flight was cancelled for the day. Passengers were provided with refreshments at the airport. IndiGo also offered them alternate travel options or a full refund. “Safety of passengers and crew is our highest priority. We regret the inconvenience caused by this unexpected situation,” the airline said in a statement. Earlier in July, an Air India flight scheduled to depart for Kolkata was forced to abort takeoff at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport earlier today after a technical issue was detected moments before departure. According to initial reports, the aircraft was on the runway and preparing for takeoff when the snag was identified. As a precautionary measure, the pilots halted the flight, ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew on board. The incident has caused minor delays for subsequent flights, but operations at the airport remain largely unaffected.
