New Delhi: A brand-new Mahindra Thar worth Rs 27 lakh crashed out of a Delhi showroom on Monday evening after the buyer accidentally pressed the accelerator
while performing a customary ritual. 29-year-old Maani Pawar had visited the Mahindra showroom in Nirman Vihar to take delivery of her new Thar. Before driving the vehicle, she decided to perform a pooja, which included squeezing a lemon under the car’s tyre—a common ritual for good luck. The car was stationed on the showroom’s first floor. Ms Pawar was supposed to move the car very slowly to complete the ritual. However, she mistakenly pressed the accelerator, causing the Thar to break through the showroom’s glass façade and plunge onto the pavement below. A showroom employee, identified as Vikas, was also inside the car at the time. Video footage of the incident shows the overturned vehicle lying on the road outside the showroom. The airbags deployed immediately, and both Ms Pawar and the employee were rushed to nearby Malik Hospital. They received first aid and were discharged shortly after.
