Mumbai has opened its gates, Bengaluru has shut the door, and Delhi is bracing for a tense Friday. The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is taking its ‘Lehra
Do Tiranga’ campaign across India, but its plans have run into sharply different responses from authorities. With a rally cleared in Mumbai, its Town Hall protest denied in Bengaluru and security tightened in the national capital, the outfit’s latest mobilisation is shaping up to be a major test. The latest mobilisation follows the arrests of CJP co-conveners Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das and comes amid heightened security in the national capital. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke has called on supporters to assemble at Central Park in Connaught Place, Delhi, at 5 pm on October 16 and wave the national flag. However, Delhi Police has not granted permission for a large march, and prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) remain in force in Connaught Place and surrounding areas. The New Delhi Municipal Council has also announced that Central Park will remain closed to the public on October 16 and 17. Authorities have stepped up security, with more than 25,000 police and paramilitary personnel reported deployed in and around the capital ahead of the planned gathering. Police have said a limited number of people could be allowed to conduct a march at a suitable location.
Mumbai Rally Gets Police Permission
In Mumbai, the CJP has received permission to hold its ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ protest at Azad Maidan from 10 am to 5 pm on Friday. The rally is intended to express solidarity with Ranka and Das, who were sent to judicial custody following their detention in Delhi.
The party has argued that waving the national flag is a democratic right and has appealed to citizens to join the demonstration.
CJP Protest In Bengaluru: No Permission Granted For Town Hall Demonstration
Bengaluru authorities have denied permission to the CJP to hold its planned demonstration at Town Hall, citing Freedom Park as the city’s designated protest site.
The group had planned to stage its protest at Town Hall, but permission for the gathering was not granted.

The latest demonstrations follow a series of protests against alleged irregularities in the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The CJP has demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and raised concerns over voter deletions.
The movement’s recent campaign has included a protest at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park on October 8, where CJP members and supporters, including actor Prakash Raj and YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, joined demonstrations linked to the SIR controversy. That Bengaluru protest was held ahead of the group’s earlier October 10 mobilisation in Delhi.
The latest Delhi and Mumbai gatherings come as the CJP continues its campaign over electoral roll revisions and the arrests of its leaders, with the two cities facing different conditions: a police-approved rally in Mumbai and tight restrictions around the proposed gathering in Delhi.
