The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a reminder for students about the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University
Students (CSSS). CBSE informed students that online applications for CSSS for the year 2025-26 are now open. This is applicable for the first renewal for the year 2024, second renewal for the year 2023, third renewal for the year 2022 and fourth renewal for the year 2021. The online applications are available on National Scholarship Portal -- scholarships.gov.in. The portal is applicable for fresh as well as renewal applications. The last date for submission of online application form for renewal and fresh scholarship 2025-26 is October 31, 2025. "All the candidates are advised to apply online within the stipulated time and get their online applications verified by the institutions (if required show the original documents to institute) else the application would be treated as INVALID," the official notification stated. "All the Nodal officers of Institute are requested for timely verification (verify/ defect/ reject) of the online applications at their institute login." A maximum of 82,000 fresh scholarships per annum are provided for pursuing graduate / postgraduate degree in colleges and universities and for professional courses, such as Medical, Engineering etc. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to meritorious students from poor families to meet part of their day-to-day expenditure for pursuing their higher studies. Applicants should be studying in colleges/ institutions recognised by AICTE or other relevant regulatory bodies. They must not be availing of any other scholarship, fee waiver, or reimbursement from the Central or State Government. Annual gross parental/ family income must be Rs 4.5 lakh or less.
