The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a list of do's and don'ts for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 re-examination
on June 21. Ahead of the re-exam, NTA has now issued guidelines regarding biometric verification requirements and exception provisions. As per the instructions issued by NTA, on the day of the re-examination, after the completion of the mandatory frisking process, every candidate is required to undergo biometric verification before being permitted to enter the examination room. NTA has reminded students that "this is a security requirement and shall be completed prior to the commencement of the examination." NTA also told students that in case the biometric verification of a candidate cannot be completed due to device hardware failure, poor quality of biometric data, connectivity failure with UIDAI servers, or physical inability of the candidate to provide biometric data, the candidate will still be permitted to enter and appear in the examination room. "However, such candidates will be required to execute a written undertaking at the examination centre at the time of entry. The prescribed format for this undertaking will be made available at the examination centre itself with the Centre Superintendent," NTA added. The testing agency has reassured students that they will not be disturbed during the active examination period for biometric processing. "The biometric process, where required, will be carried out before the examination commences or after it concludes," NTA added. In addition to this, NTA has also clarified that the exam timing will be 2 pm to 5:15 pm. "Candidates appearing for the re-examination will write from 02:00 PM to 05:15 PM. In the case of eligible PwD/PwBD candidates who are entitled to compensatory time, the examination period extends up to 06:20 PM. However, invigilation formalities regarding the conduct of the examination will be completed during this period," NTA clarified.
NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: Do's and Don'ts for Candidates
Do's
- Carry your NEET UG 2026 Re-Examination admit card and valid ID proof.
- Reach the examination centre well in advance to accommodate frisking and biometric verification.
- Cooperate with security personnel during frisking and biometric checks.
- Undergo biometric verification before entering the examination room.
- If biometric verification fails due to technical issues, poor biometric quality, UIDAI connectivity issues, or physical inability, complete the written undertaking provided by the Centre Superintendent.
- Follow all instructions issued by the Centre Superintendent and invigilators.
- Stay seated until all examination-related formalities are completed.
- PwD/PwBD candidates entitled to compensatory time should remain available until their examination concludes at 6:20 PM.
Don'ts
- Do not refuse biometric verification without a valid documented reason.
- Do not argue with examination centre staff regarding security procedures.
- Do not attempt to bypass frisking or biometric verification processes.
- Do not leave the examination room or centre before permitted by authorities.
- Do not expect biometric verification to be conducted during the active examination period; it will be completed before the exam begins or after it ends if required.
- Do not provide false information or submit a false undertaking.
- Do not violate examination norms, as such actions may attract penalties under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.

NTA has also warned all aspirants that refusal to undergo biometric verification without a valid documented reason shall be treated as a violation of examination norms and may render a candidate liable for action as per the provisions of the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024.
