A recent social media post has created a buzz among netizens as it displays a chapter from study material, placing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan
“Main Bhi Chowkidar” alongside quotes from notable historical freedom fighters. The post shared on the microblogging site ‘X’ features a video of Chapter 56, titled “Freedom Fighter Quotes and Slogans,” containing names of prominent personalities along with their famous sayings or slogans. Notably, it is not an official school textbook produced by NCERT, state councils or any government body; rather, it is study material developed by a private coaching centre for competitive exams. The book is titled ‘Shivant Sir’s private Static GK exam-prep notes/book.’ The printed page also shows ‘SHIVANT SIR’ at the bottom. The list includes several pre-independence leaders who laid down their lives for the country’s freedom from the British Raj, including Mahatma Gandhi and Bhagat Singh. The chapter also includes political leaders including Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Rajendra Prasad, and P.V. Narasimha Rao.
Post Draws Mixed Reactions from Netizens
The post has invited mixed reactions from netizens. While some labelled it a manipulation of history, others pointed out the presence of other political leaders in the list.
“This is how History is being manipulated,” one X user wrote.
“There are other PM names too; don’t manipulate,” another one commented.
Because the user who shared the post described it, saying, “Bud introduced himself as a Freedom Fighter in chapter number ‘56’,” many took to the comment section to clarify that the book wasn’t written or published by the PM himself; rather, it was by a coaching institute.
“A coaching institute wrote it--not Modi. If the book is wrong, hold the publisher accountable. Blaming Modi for someone else’s mistake isn’t fact-checking; it’s old-style propaganda,” an X user wrote.
