President Droupadi Murmu today (August 28) interacted with students and teachers from government schools across the nation at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the occasion
of Raksha Bandhan. Students from various schools and organisations met the President of India at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. These students were selected from different parts of the country such as Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Chandigarh, and more. "President Droupadi Murmu celebrated Raksha Bandhan with children and students of various schools and organizations at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre," the official tweet from President of India's X account read. "The President said that the significance of Raksha Bandhan extends beyond the bonds of siblings. She said that the sacred thread of Rakhi can be tied to family members, friends and even trees, symbolising the bond of love and care. Emphasising the importance of environment conservation, she urged children to nurture plants and trees.
Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan also met stydents from various schools on this occassion. The Vice President of India met students at the at Uprashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence and workplace of the Vice President of India.
"Vice President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan celebrated Raksha Bandhan with school children at Uprashtrapati Bhavan," the official tweet from Vice President of India's X account read. "The children tied Rakhis on the Vice President, symbolising the beautiful bond of love, trust and protection."
"Uprashtrapati Bhavan was filled with warmth and joy as the Vice President interacted with the children, making the festive occasion truly special," the tweet added.
Alongwith the President and Vice President of the country, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, too, met with students from government schools. "High fives, smiles and more during today’s Raksha Bandhan celebrations at 7, LKM," he tweeted.
Last year, too, President Droupadi Murmu had met and interacted with students from diverse educational institutions at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Students were selected from different government schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs), as well as Children with Special Needs from various states and Union Territories (UTs).
