Meanwhile, waterlogging has been reported in several parts of the city. Due to the heavy rainfall, multiple localities, especially those located in low-lying areas, are at high risk of flooding from rainwater. According to media reports, the IT hub of India has recorded 16.6mm of rain in the first six days of the month and 7mm in the past 24 hours as of Wednesday. “(30-40 kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Bengaluru (Rural), Bengaluru (Urban), Chikkaballapura, Kolar, Tumakuru and Ramanagara districts. Light to moderate rain/thundershowers with gusty wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at a few places over Ballari Vijayanagara,” said Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre. A solo weather forecast on Twitter, now X, shared Rainfall Map for Bengaluru. “Scattered light to moderate rainfall recorded. Extreme North, SW, SE and Extreme South recorded rainfall,” he added in the tweet #bengalururains.
Trees Uprooted, Traffic Disruptions in Bengaluru
Heavy winds and rain have caused flooding and uprooted trees in several parts of Bengaluru, leading to traffic problems across the city. The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) reported that seven trees were uprooted and 25 branches snapped due to strong winds and showers.
Throughout the morning, Bengaluru Traffic Police issued multiple warnings as fallen trees and waterlogged roads blocked major routes.
