The Prime Minister (PM) of India, Narendra Modi, will participate in the 57th Convocation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi as
the Chief Guest. The convocation ceremony will be held on August 8, 2026 (Saturday), at 11 am. PM will be addressing over 3000 graduating students including 587 PhD scholars who will be conferred their degrees during this ceremony. In addition to this, the Prime Minister will also present the Institute’s most prestigious honours, including the President’s Gold Medal, Director’s Gold Medal, Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal, and Perfect Ten Gold Medals to the meritorious students. Additionally, Prime Minister will inaugurate Param Pragya, an AI-powered high-performance supercomputing facility established at the Sonipat Campus of IIT Delhi. "The state-of-the-art facility is expected to significantly enhance the institute’s capabilities in AI, data science, advanced computing, and interdisciplinary research," an official statement read. As per the programme details shared by the institute on its official page, other dignitaries who will attend the convocation ceremony are Droupadi Murmu, the President of India; Pralhad Joshi, the Union Education Minister of India; Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Member, NITI Aayog (Guest of Honour), Harish Salve, Chairperson, Board of Governors, IIT Delhi.
