BJP and Congress workers clashed on the streets of Patna during a protest carried out by the ruling party in Bihar's capital. The protest was carried out by the ruling party over
the abusive language used against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother during Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in poll-bound Bihar. The clashes erupted hours after a Congress worker was arrested in connection with the case. A video showed workers of the two parties attacking each other with party flags in front of the Congress office. BJP leaders said they will give a befitting reply to Congress for "insulting a mother". "Stone pelting has occurred... we will conduct a detailed inquiry and if there has been any loss of property, an application will definitely be made at the police station in that regard and an investigation will be conducted... As soon as we received information about the incident, we took prompt action. Nearby police stations were also informed and instructed to reach the spot... We will talk to the local police station to find out when they received information about this (the demonstration)..," said DSP Law and Order, Krishna Murari Prasad, according to ANI. 'A Befitting Reply Will be Given'
A Congress worker, Dr Ashutosh, said that the BJP protest had the support of the state government. "A befitting reply will be given. This is happening with the government's involvement. Nitish Kumar is doing wrong," he told ANI.
A Congress worker, who used an expletive against PM Modi from a dais raised during the yatra in Darbhanga town, was arrested today.
The BJP had launched a scathing attack on Congress over the incident with Union Amit Shah accusing the Congress under Rahul Gandhi's leadership of stooping to its "lowest level". He said the party cannot tolerate how a poor mother's son has been sitting in the prime minister's chair for the past 11 years.
The BJP had also posted on the incident on X. "Extremely indecent language was used from the stage of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav's yatra against the late mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The language was so derogatory that it cannot even be repeated. Such low has never been seen before in politics. This yatra has crossed all limits of insult, hatred, and vulgarity," it said.
BJP President JP Nadda came out with a video message, calling Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav "two spoilt princes, who have brought disrepute to Bihar and its culture, and must apologise to the nation".
State Congress spokesman Asit Nath Tiwari, meanwhile, refused to condemn the incident and instead said it is the BJP, "which is known for ‘gali-galauj’ (abusive language)".
"There is so much resentment against the ruling NDA that people have begun venting spleen from podiums. Still, we stop the people from doing so and explain to them that such behaviour is the BJP’s wont, not that of the Congress," he said, according to PTI.
