New Delhi: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) convenor Saurav Das has alleged that attempts are being made to create unrest ahead of the party’s proposed protest
at Jantar Mantar on October 10, and urged the Delhi Police to prevent any violence. In a post on X, Das alleged that the government was trying to create a “civil war-like situation” by pitting citizens against each other. He also urged the Delhi Police to prevent alleged right-wing extremist elements from entering the protest area. “I have said this before and I am saying it again: the government wants to create major unrest in the country by pitting citizens against citizens. They want to create a civil war-like situation. But we, the young generation have always remained PEACEFUL,” Das said. He added, “I urge @DelhiPolice to ensure such right-wing extremists do not enter protest zone or kill any protester. Detain them before they leave their houses. The fault will entirely be of the BJP government and Delhi Police if anything untoward happens. This terrorist is clearly inciting fringe elements to create violence against young citizens.”
Das's remarks came after a right-wing extremist social media handle posted a video in which a man was seen holding a wooden stick and allegedly threatening to attack CJP supporters, referred to as 'cockroaches', if they arrived at Jantar Mantar on October 10.
Responding to the allegations, DCP Neha Yadav told Times Now Digital that no permission had been granted for a protest at Jantar Mantar.
“There is no permission given to Protest at Jantar Mantar. So from our side, there is not going to be any protest at Jantar Mantar. And secondly, any Kind of violence from any side will not be tolerated. Delhi Police has to be maintain Law and order,” Yadav said.
Meanwhile, the CJP has formally informed the Delhi Police about its proposed protest on October 10. The party has said the demonstration will be led by young people from across the country over issues related to elections and voter lists.
Das said he visited the Parliament Street Police Station and submitted a letter informing the police about the proposed gathering.
“We reached the Parliament Street Police Station, and I handed them a formal letter. We informed them that the 'Cockroach Janta Party' and the youth of the entire nation, all these 'cockroaches’, are set to gather at Jantar Mantar on October 10. We asked them to maintain law and order, cooperate with us, and make necessary traffic arrangements. We have provided this formal intimation,” Das said.
According to Das, the protest will focus on concerns among young people over what he described as the “theft of votes” and “hijacking of elections”. He also alleged that the Election Commission of India was failing to include members of Gen Z in voter lists.
“The youth of the country are concerned about a major issue, one that affects their future and their nation regarding the theft of votes, the hijacking of elections, and the fact that the Election Commission of India is failing to even include Gen Z in the voter lists,” Das said.
The proposed protest comes amid heightened tensions surrounding demonstrations by CJP and other groups in Delhi over allegations concerning the electoral process. Delhi Police has maintained that any violence from any side will not be tolerated and that maintaining law and order remains its priority.
