Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke says people are "running out of patience" waiting to see his own academic degree verified, after his Boston
University credentials came under questioning from critics online. Dipke, a former Aam Aadmi Party strategist, has said he is willing to make his documents, including scholarship letters, public, but added a rider. In a post on X, Dipke turned the scrutiny back toward Prime Minister Narendra Modi, tagging him directly and proposing that both show their degrees to "put an end to this." He remarked that the public had gone roughly 12 years without seeing the Prime Minister's academic records, a reference to Modi's time in office since 2014. Dipke has raised the issue before since founding CJP in May 2026, a satirical movement that emerged from student protests over exam paper leaks and unemployment. He has pointed out that Delhi University does not publicly celebrate Modi as an alumnus, unlike some institutions abroad that do list their alumni.
The question of PM Modi's degrees has a history stretching back roughly a decade. Then-Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP had sought his academic records under the RTI Act, citing alleged discrepancies between his BA and MA certificates. In response, then-BJP president Amit Shah and Union minister Arun Jaitley held a press conference releasing copies of Modi's degrees from Delhi University (1978) and Gujarat University (1983) and asked Kejriwal to apologise for what they called baseless claims.
The matter subsequently reached the courts. In August 2025, the Delhi High Court ruled that Delhi University was not required to disclose PM Modi's academic records, holding that educational qualifications are personal information protected under privacy provisions of the RTI Act. That ruling is currently under appeal before a division bench, with a further hearing pending.
Neither the Prime Minister's Office nor the BJP has responded to Dipke's latest post at the time of publication.
